Cyanotype prints
Cyanotype is the deep blue of the 1840s: paper brushed with iron salts and exposed to the sun. It was the first photographic process used to illustrate a book, and its blue still looks modern on a wall.
Our cyanotypes come in two kinds. The prints carry the image in blue on pale paper, with the brushed edge of the coating. The photograms are the other way round: white plant shadows on a full blue ground, the way Anna Atkins made her plates of algae and ferns.
