Redouté's Ornithogalum from Les Liliacées, bulb, roots, ribbon leaves and flower spike, reprinted as a deep Prussian blue cyanotype on pale paper.

The original

“Les Liliacées: Ornithogalum longibracteatum” by Pierre-Joseph Redouté (French, 1759–1840), 1802–16, is in the public domain. The image comes from the Cleveland Museum of Art, which shares it under CC0 (no rights reserved).

The print

Tiraj turns the stipple engraving into a cyanotype, the iron-based sun print: one deep Prussian blue for the bulb, the curling leaves and the flower spike, with a brushed, slightly streaked coating.

The paper tone is part of the artwork; print on white matte paper. The pale sheet and the brushed coating are printed into the file.

Printing tips

Use heavyweight white matte paper (200 gsm or more, archival matte or cotton rag). Print at 100% / actual size, not 'fit to page', and pick the file that matches your frame.
Colours can vary slightly between screens and printers.
