Alberto Pasini's painting of a sebil and mosque in Istanbul, reprinted as a three-colour risograph in coral red and deep navy on cream paper.

The original

“A Mosque” by Alberto Pasini (Italian, 1826–1899), 1872, is in the public domain. The image comes from The Metropolitan Museum of Art, which shares it under CC0 (no rights reserved).

The print

Tiraj separates the painting into three risograph drums, aqua, medium blue and bright red, with riso grain and a slight misregistration. Coral carries the dusty square, the riders and the fountain wall; where blue and coral overprint they make the deep navy-plum of the plane trees and the domes. The sky stays open on the cream sheet, with a faint aqua edge where the drums slip.

The paper tone is part of the artwork; print on white matte paper. The warm cream sheet and the printing texture are printed into the file.
